On 9/9 (local time), large-scale wildfires destroyed hundreds of homes in the western state of Oregon.

Oregon Governor Kate Brown announced the trigger of a statewide forest fire emergency, allowing for more resource mobilization as well as requesting federal assistance.

Speaking to the media, Governor Brown estimated that more than 12,405 hectares of forests in Oregon were engulfed in flames with 35 major wildfires.

At least five towns have been severely destroyed by "fire", while large-scale evacuation is underway.

It is estimated that two people were killed in the Santiam canyon area, 96,5 km south of Portland. She said this could be the biggest loss of life and property caused by forest fires in the state's history.

Along with neighboring California and Washington, Oregon is working to control the rapid spread of fires since the weekend due to hot sun, dry and strong winds. Previous reports showed that many towns and cities such as Detroit, Blue River, Vida, Phoenix and Talent were severely damaged. Due to the weather showing no signs of improvement on 9/9, new fires are at risk of breaking out in many localities. Dry trees also increase the risk of forest fire spreading, causing widespread damage. In California, the San Francisco city sky was covered with an orange color due to smoke from the wildfires. At times, the smoke was so dense that the sky was dark. Cars, when passing the famous Golden Gate Bridge, were forced to turn on their lights during the day. One hundred and twenty miles north, the Bear Fire wildfire erupted in the night, combined with old fires that swept more than 101,171 hectares and threatened the city of Oroville.
Authorities have extended evacuation warnings to parts of Paradise town, the site of the most severe wildfires in California's modern history, killing 86 people less than 2 years ago.

The nearby August Complex wildfire is also spreading rapidly, becoming the second largest fire in California state history.

As the fire in the Angeles National Forest continues to spread and dangerous winds are expected to continue to the area on the evening of 9/9, authorities have warned the evacuation of several cities in Los Angeles County. .

As of the morning of September 9, the Bobcat Fire forest fire burned 4,182ha. About 400 firefighters were dispatched to the scene, but bad weather hampered efforts to put out the fire.

Tens of thousands of people living in the cities of Duarte, Bradbury, Monrovia, Arcadia, Sierra Madre, Pasadena and Altadena, at the foothills of Santa Ana, where the Angeles National Forest were reported to be evacuated on September morning. In the city of Arcadia, the government has declared a state of emergency and encouraged some people to voluntarily evacuate to ensure safety. Most recently, Butte County Sheriff confirmed that there were three people killed by wildfires in northern Sacramento, bringing the total number of people killed by wildfires in California to 11. Power company PG&E is re-supplying power to more than 170,000 residents in California, after a widespread service suspension caused by fire.
