Tornadoes sink fishing boat, 1 fisherman goes missing in Kien Giang

9:58:28, 19/09/2022 A storm in Kien Giang province caused two fishermen who were fishing in the waters of Kien Luong district to suddenly be hit by a large wave and capsize their boat. One person managed to get into a nearby fish raft, while the fisherman who was with him has yet to be found.

This afternoon (September 7), the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Kien Giang Province said that at 9:15 am on September 7, the Border Guard Station of Hon Chong Port (closed to in Kien Luong district) received news that a 6.5m long perforated fishing boat owned by Mr. Ha Van Luong (42 years old), living in Hon Chong hamlet, Binh An commune, Kien Luong district, was hit by storms and waves. large sunk.

Previously, Mr. Luong's fishing boat departed at Lung Lon 2 culvert, Binh An commune, Kien Luong district, on board were Mr. Luong and Mr. La Van Hai (net friends, living in the same commune).
Around 3:30, the boat came out to Hon Nhum area, Son Hai commune to drop nets. However, about an hour later, a storm and big waves appeared, then the fishing boat was capsized. Mr. Luong was able to swim to a nearby fish raft, but Mr. Hai was swept away by the waves and has not been found yet.
After receiving the information, the Hon Chong Port Border Gate Guard Station sent forces from the Son Hai Border Guard Station to coordinate with the Police and Military Police of Son Hai Commune to organize a search for Mr. sinking ship position.
Currently, rescue and rescue forces continue to search for fisherman La Van Hai and carry out the recovery of the sunken ship and bring it ashore.
