In this dry season, drought and saltwater intrusion have been severe and prolonged, causing serious impacts on production and living conditions on a large scale in Tien Giang province. Located on the east coast, Go Cong Tay district is one of the localities having difficulties with domestic water sources. In many places, people suffer from severe shortage of fresh water and life is extremely difficult. Go Cong Tay district currently has 29 domestic water supply stations serving over 29,000 rural households with a total designed capacity of 22,530 m3 / day and night, of which 21 stations use underground water, the rest use water from Dong Tam water plant (My Tho city). Of Dong Tam water plant, except for Binh Phu station, which is providing stable water for 1,823 households, the remaining 7 stations in Go Cong Tay district have a total designed capacity of 10,440 m3 / day and night. for 14,556 households. Under normal conditions, these stations provide enough water to serve the people. However, during the drought season in 2020, the demand for water is increasing, the water pressure from Dong Tam Water Plant is unstable, so some areas at the end of the water flow are weak, not guaranteed continuously.

Therefore, these stations still have to alternate the water sources from the canals and intra-field canals of Go Cong freshwater area to supplement. Water quality and salinity are not stable because it depends on the water source of the project area. Moreover, the time after the Lunar New Year, droughts and saline intrusion became increasingly fierce, the canals in the project area were dry and inert. Domestic water for people in the region has become very urgent. Many households in remote areas lack water o use, making life very difficult. According to the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Go Cong Tay District Le Van Ne, under the above situation, the district has implemented many urgent solutions to create water sources and serve people's daily life through the drought season of 2020. The locality has  opened an additional of 19 public faucets in key areas.

The district also set 35 water tanks at 22 points in 11 communes in the district to serve people in difficult places, creating favorable conditions for people to come to get water to meet the needs of life. It is estimated that, from the time of installation, the above-mentioned faucets and water supply points have provided nearly 13,000 cubic meters of water for daily use.

In addition, sharing difficulties with the locality, Go Cong Tay is also helped by benefactors, sponsors, and charitable organizations from outside the province, to donate containers and tanks. , saltwater filtration equipment and other water supply solutions to support people, contributing to disaster reduction and social security.

In particular, Dai Nam Joint Stock Company (Binh Duong) also invested 9km of fresh water pipelines to serve 1,500 households in Long Vinh, Yen Luong and Binh Phu communes - these are areas where water is scarce. harshness of Go Cong Tay district. The project was completed and put into use in April 2020 to remove difficulties in domestic water for people.
