The ship SAR 412 saved 13 crew members in distress due to the impact of storm No. 7

16:22:57, 16/11/2022 According to information from the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center, the ship SAR 412 successfully rescued 13 crew members of the BD 96728 TS ship, which crashed due to main engine failure, fast drifting under bad weather conditions.

At 7:30 am on October 28, 2022, while practicing in the waters of Quang Tri province at position 17º11' north latitude; 108º09' east longitude, the ship BD 96728 TS consisting of 13 crew members, led by Mr. Vo Van Nhu (born in 1985) residing in Hoai Hai commune, Hoai Nhon district, Binh Dinh province as the captain, suddenly broke down the main engine and died. maneuverability, unable to return to storm shelter. Mr. Nhu mobilized the crew to make efforts to overcome and repair the main engine, the ship BD 96728 TS drifted aimlessly at sea and contacted the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (Center) to have ship support measures.
Receiving information from ship BD 96728 TS, the Center cooperated with Da Nang Coastal Information Station to broadcast urgent maritime announcements, call for vehicles in the area to come to support the ship in distress, and at the same time send The technical team guides the crew members of the BD 96728 TS to repair the main engine.
On the morning of October 29, the weather in the area changed badly due to the influence of storm No. 7 (NALGAE) with northeast wind level 6, level 7-8, waves 3-4m high, strong sea. At that time, in the area there was no vehicle capable of supporting the BD 96728 TS due to inclement weather, all attempts to repair the main engine were unsuccessful. 96728 TS drifted quickly under bad weather conditions, potentially endangering maritime safety, 13 crew members were in panic, exhausted after many hours of efforts to repair the main engine and slap water to save the ship.

Facing an emergency situation that could cause the ship to sink and threaten the lives of 13 crew members of the BD 96728 TS, under the urgent and drastic direction of the National Committee for Incident and Disaster Response and Search and Rescue , the Ministry of Transport, the Vietnam Maritime Administration, at all costs must urgently mobilize rescue forces and ensure the safety of life for the 13 crew members of the ship BD 96728 TS. At 12:51 am on October 29, 2022, the Center dispatched the ship SAR 412 to urgently leave the wharf to perform the task of rescuing the crew of the ship BD 96728 TS.
The ship SAR 412 continuously maintains contact, reassures spirits, instructs crew members in distress on measures to limit drift, prepares life-saving equipment and survival measures at sea. With the fastest cruise speed, overcoming harsh turbulent conditions, at 17:45 on the same day, the maritime rescue force arrived at the scene, deployed to search and approached the ship BD 96728 TS. Rescue workers quickly deployed on board BD 96728 TS to pump anti-submersible, connect tow lines and bring 13 crew members to SAR 412 to ensure safety, check health, and provide medical care. The ship SAR 412 supports towing the BD 96728 TS ship to escape from the dangerous area and return to the mainland.
At 7:24 a.m. on October 30, 2022, the ship SAR 412 brought all 13 crew members in distress along with the ship BD 96728 TS to Da Nang safely and handed it over to the authorities according to regulations.


Representatives of the Vietnam Maritime Administration and the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center presented gifts to support the crew members.

The representative of the Vietnam Maritime Administration, the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center sent encouragement, visited and presented gifts to support 13 fishermen in distress with the hope of relatives. Fishermen soon fix damaged means, continue to practice.
