Within the framework of cooperation between VNDMA and Acecook Vietnam Company, the General Department of Natural Disaster Prevention and Control coordinated with the National Institute of Nutrition to organize a survey team to collect information on the preparation. and people's food consumption when natural disasters occurred in 05 central provinces from May 13 to August 5, in the provinces of Quang Binh, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai and Binh Dinh. The purpose of information gathering activities is to serve as a basis for assessing and proposing plans to ensure nutrition for communities vulnerable to disasters. The target audience for the survey will include officials working in disaster prevention and control at the provincial level; representatives of relevant departments, agencies, mass organizations at commune level and people (including vulnerable people).

 At the Standing Office of the Commanding Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of the province and commune, the mission worked and collected information on the list of necessities; activities of preparing, managing and distributing food (type, quantity) to people, especially vulnerable people (Children, elderly people, disabled people, pregnant/raised women infants under 12 months old).

In order to obtain information about the people's food consumption and demand, the survey team also worked directly with the people, who are vulnerable on the following contents: foods people have used, health problems when using these foods (if any); Criteria that people choose food and propose nutritious food when natural disasters occur.

At the end of the survey, the Center for Policy and Techniques for Disaster Prevention will coordinate with the National Institute of Nutrition to finalize the report, as a basis for proposing support activities for people in disaster areas and opening survey activities in the following years.
