Successfully rescued 10 people on a sunken ship in Hai Phong

11:10:20, 08/07/2022 The Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center and the rescue force have successfully supported and rescued 10 crew members and passengers of the Nam Thinh 126 ship after the ship sank.

Accordingly, at 12:10 p.m. on June 22, the center received information about the Nam Thinh 126 ship having an accident at sea while carrying 1,800 tons of sawn stone and bales from Quy Nhon to Cam port (Hai Phong). . Arriving at the Hon Dau anchorage (Hai Phong), the ship dropped anchor and was pushed by the waves, causing the ship to turn sideways, tilt and in danger of sinking.

At the time of the incident, there were 8 crew members and 2 passengers on board. All of them quickly left the ship and got on the raft. The captain requested an urgent rescue.

After receiving the information, the Center coordinated with the Hai Phong Port Authority and relevant forces in the region to mobilize vehicles in the area, including: Thanh Nguyen 36 ship, Hop Nhat 856 ship, and ship HP 3555 participated in search and rescue.


At 12:40 am, HP 3555 had rescued all 10 people on board Nam Thinh 126 who were drifting with life rafts. The Center has dispatched the ship SAR 411 to leave the wharf of the Regional Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center in Hai Phong to receive and promptly take care of and give first aid to the crew members of the Nam Thinh 126 in distress. .

Through exploiting information from the ship's crew, the fuel on the ship remained 3 tons of DO oil and 150 tons of LO. The crew on board promptly closed the fuel valves before leaving the ship. Right after the crew and passengers left the ship, the Nam Thinh 126 ship sank shortly after.

At 18:42 on the same day, the maritime rescue force brought all 8 crew members and 2 passengers on board Nam Thinh 126 to the safe area center wharf, handing it over to the authorities. local and ship owners.
