Quang Tri has rainfall exceeds 1,000mm, nearly 13,800 households are affected

According to the latest data, Quang Tri province had two people who died due to being swept away by floods; 7 people are missing; Nearly 13,800 households with more than 46,000 people are affected by inundation.

According to the Quang Tri Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue, by dawn of October 9, the measured rainfall in the province was popular from 500-700mm, some places exceeded 1,000mm like Huong Linh on 1,172 mm, Vinh O is more than 1,008mm. Heavy rains lasted from October 6 up to now, causing floods on rivers in Quang Tri to rise quickly and reach a popular peak at levels above alarm 2 to alarm 3, some places on alarm 3. Hieu River alone exceeded the alarm 3 is 0.69m, exceeding the peak of historical flood in 1983 is 0.11m. Quang Tri province has nearly 13,800 households with over 46,000 people affected by inundation. Provinces in the province organized the relocation of more than 3,740 households with more than 13,000 people to safe areas, concentrated mainly in the mountainous districts of Dakrong, Huong Hoa, low-lying areas in Dong Ha city and Trieu districts. Phong, Hai Lang, Gio Linh, Vinh Linh, Cam Lo and Quang Tri town.

The competent forces are organizing the rescue of three sunken ships, two stranded ships and one drifting ship; On the stranded and drifting ships, there are 33 crew members.

On October 9, Quang Tri continued to implement drastic measures to cope with floods and rains, focusing on rescuing crew members still on ships in distress.




The People's Committee of Quang Tri province has issued Document No. 4609 / UBND-NN to the National Committee for Natural Disaster Response and Search and Rescue on using helicopters to rescue 12 crew members aboard Vietship. 01 was stranded, about 400-500m from Cua Viet port, in danger of life; At the same time, he proposed to the IV Military Region Command to assist the province to rescue people and ships in distress.

The province requested functional forces to send guards to guard, prohibit people and vehicles from traveling at bridge overflows, deep floods, landslides, critical and dangerous locations; Prepare forces, ready to help people clean up and sanitation right after the water recedes.

During October 9-10, students in the whole province of Quang Tri continued to drop out of school due to floods.
