From the night of June 13 to the morning of June 14, due to the influence of the low-pressure trench in the Northwest-Southeast axis going through the North to connect with the No. 1 storm in the East Sea and combined with the impact of the region’s high concentration of wind create rain and thunderstorms in Lao Cai, many localities have heavy to very heavy rain. Heavy rains have caused floods causing damage to many rice, crops and transport works in Lao Cai province.
The localities have heavy rainstorms, scattered with moderate rain, heavy rain, sometimes very heavy rain with strong thunderstorms like Nghia Do commune (Bao Yen) 72.6mm; Nam Khanh commune (Bac Ha) 83.2mm; Gia phu commune (Bao Thang) 87.2mm, Muong Vi commune (Bat Xat) 90.2mm; Bao Ha commune (Bao Yen) 91.4mm; Cam Duong commune (Lao Cai city) 99.2mm ...

In particular, many communes have rainfall of over 100mm, such as Lung Phinh commune (Bac Ha) 106.6mm; Kim Son commune (Bao Yen) 121.2mm; Bac Ha town 108mm, Coc My commune (Bat Xat) 137.2mm; Bao Nhai commune (Bac Ha) has the highest rainfall of 147.2mm.

Heavy rains made all rivers and streams in Lao Cai province appear a flood, the flood amplitude was from 1.3-2m; there are rivers over 2m high. Currently, floods in rivers and streams are still rising. According to preliminary reports of localities, in Bao Yen district, after the flood, Nghia Do commune was most affected. In Nghia Do commune, according to local authorities, the fields that are coming to harvest are deeply flooded, traffic on some roads is affected. In particular, the bridge of Lang Dap village, which was swept away from the historic flood in 2018, has temporarily been broken down again, affecting the travel of nearly 60 households. As of 16h30 on June 14, the locality has not yet recorded any specific damage.

Now that the flood water has receded but it is still raining, Bao Yen District's Disaster Prevention and Rescue Steering Committee has urged localities to relocate households in areas prone to landslides and pipe floods, flash floods to arrive to  safe area; warn people in low-lying areas to quickly move furniture to a safe place, to prevent the risk of further flooding. According to the hydro-meteorological station of Lao Cai province, forecasting day and night of June 14, the low-pressure trench has an axis going through the North and the high wind convergence area affecting Lao Cai has a stable intensity. The localities continued to have heavy thunderstorms, scattered with moderate rain, heavy rain, and very heavy rains accompanied by strong thunderstorms.
Due to the possibility of complicated, unpredictable and prolonged floods, the authorities of Lao Cai province advised the local people to enhance the prevention of flash floods, big floods and landslides; be alert to storms, strong winds, lightning strikes, low-lying areas, where junctions of rivers and streams, prevent flooding on a large scale.
