Lai Chau: 5,000 cubic meters of rock and soil buried on the surface of National Highway 32

14:14:12, 13/08/2020 Due to landslides on Highway 32, the vehicles traveling along Lai Chau city to Than Uyen district and to Yen Bai and Son La provinces and vice versa were congested.

About 14h45 on 13/7, at Km391 + 200, Highway 32 in Phuc Khoa commune, Tan Uyen district, Lai Chau province, a landslide occurred, causing a temporary division of traffic between Tan Uyen and Than Uyen district. (Lai Chau) with the two provinces of Yen Bai and Son La.

The amount of eroded rock and soil here is estimated at 5,000 cubic meters, has buried the entire road surface, causing vehicles to travel along the route of Lai Chau city to Than Uyen district and to the provinces of Yen Bai, Son La and vice versa are congested again.

Currently, the authorities are urging the construction unit to urgently bring vehicles and machines to handle the landslide area.

It is expected that on the night of July 13, the landslide site will be finished, facilitating the circulation of vehicles.

Besides, there are still some roads in Lai Chau province which are congested due to landslides. The transport industry and the People's Committees of districts are actively mobilizing machinery, urgently clearing soil and stones to soon return roads.

According to statistics, by the morning of July 13, floods have washed away, collapsed, flooded 31 houses of people in Tan Uyen, Tam Duong and Lai Chau cities; nearly 15ha of crops were affected, many roads in Lai Chau province were eroded with nearly 100 points.

Estimated volume of eroded soil and rock is more than 80,000 cubic meters, making transportation difficult.
