Hail appeared on the top of Fansipan

10:34:17, 15/02/2023 At dawn on February 5, hailstones with a diameter of 1.5 to 3 cm fell on the top of Fansipan. The hail period lasted about 10 minutes.

According to information from the operator of Fansipan tourist area, in the early morning of February 5, heavy hail and rain fell on the top of Fansipan. The hail period lasted about 10 minutes, starting at 1:30 and ending about 1 hour and 40 minutes. The average diameter of stone beads is about 1.5 - 2 cm, there are large seeds with a diameter of 2.5 - 3 cm. This is the first hailstorm that has occurred in Lao Cai province since the beginning of 2023.


Hail appeared on the top of Fansipan.

From the evening of February 3, due to the influence of the high-altitude wind convergence, areas in the province had rain, showers all over, and thunderstorms in places.


Hail in the morning of 5/2.

Previously, on February 4, in the Northwest region, a strong hailstorm also fell on Dien Bien Phu city, Dien Bien province. Some damage to crops and people's property has been reported.
