At 07:00, the storm center was located at approximately 17.7°N latitude and 108.4°E longitude, over the waters of Ha Tinh–Hue, about 210 km east of northern Quang Tri. The maximum sustained winds near the center reached level 8 (62–74 km/h), with gusts up to level 10. The storm was moving west-northwestward at around 20 km/h.

-In the afternoon of August 30, after making landfall over Ha Tinh–Quang Tri, Storm No. 6 weakened into a tropical depression. At 16:00, the tropical depression center was located at approximately 18.1°N latitude and 106.1°E longitude, inland over Ha Tinh–northern Quang Tri. The maximum sustained winds near the center decreased to level 6–7 (39–61 km/h), with gusts up to level 9. The system was moving westward at 20–25 km/h.
