The maximum sustained winds near the center reached level 8 (62–74 km/h), with gusts up to level 10; the storm was moving west-northwestward at about 25 km/h.

The maximum sustained winds near the center intensified to level 13 (134–149 km/h), with gusts up to level 16; the storm was moving west-northwestward at 15–20 km/h.

-By the evening of August 25, Storm No. 5 made landfall over southern Nghe An and northern Ha Tinh. At 19:00, the storm center was located at approximately 18.4°N latitude and 105.8°E longitude, inland over southern Nghe An–northern Ha Tinh. The maximum sustained winds near the center weakened to level 10–11 (89–117 km/h), with gusts up to level 13; the storm was moving west-northwestward at around 10 km/h.

At 04:00, the center was located near 18.9°N latitude and 104.5°E longitude, over central Laos. The maximum sustained winds near the center were at level 7 (50–61 km/h), with gusts up to level 9; the system was moving west-northwestward at 15–20 km/h.
